Accreditation is needed for a laboratory or body to convince the customers in its trustworthiness to deliver conformity assessment services and/or apply for authorization by Government to operate in a legally regulated sphere.
In essence the accreditation is a proof of competence and capability of a laboratory/body to perform specified activities properly.
Granted accreditation will not whatsoever diminish the responsibility of the laboratory/body for the results of its daily operations.
